Demonstrations took place in Egypt for the sixth consecutive day in the governorates of Giza, Damietta and Minya, condemning the deteriorating economic conditions and demolishing homes, in response to calls under the slogan "Friday of Rage".

The demonstrators in the village of Umm Dinar (in Giza governorate) chanted slogans confirming the legitimacy of their demands, and demonstrators also took out in the Kafr al-Jabal area in Al-Haram (Giza Governorate).

Sources confirmed to Al-Jazeera that dozens of people were arrested after their homes were raided this morning, coinciding with calls for demonstrations, and Egyptian security forces fired birdshot and tear gas at a demonstration in Damietta.

The sources reported that tight security reinforcements were deployed in the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria and Suez, and the Egyptian government closed the highway in Cairo for two days.

Because of what it said were maintenance work for some bridges, after the Egyptian contractor and artist called on the demonstrators to resort to the highway in the event of an increase in the number of demonstrators.

The demonstrations were renewed in several Egyptian regions, yesterday, for the fifth consecutive day, in protest against the deteriorating living conditions.

In a new recording published on his Facebook page, Muhammad Ali said that the demonstrators, during the past days in various Egyptian villages and governorates, gave the courage to large groups of the Egyptian people to demonstrate forcefully against the policies of the Egyptian authority during today's demonstrations.
