“Today Svetlana Tikhanovskaya met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent.

They discussed the latest events in Belarus, possible ways out of the crisis, as well as the potential participation of the US, EU and Russia in organizing a dialogue on holding new elections, ”Tikhanovskaya's Telegram channel said.

It is noted that the former presidential candidate thanked the United States "for its firm and consistent position in relation to the Lukashenka regime."

Earlier, Tikhanovskaya proposed to the European Parliament a list of Belarusian officials who should be sanctioned for violence in the country.

According to the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, Tikhanovskaya is under the "close tutelage of the United States," like other opposition activists who are "promoted as popular leaders."
