Fedorov noted that at present, any child can, without any obstacles, create his own personal account on social networks, indicating personal (real or fictitious) data in it.

At the same time, social networks, given the high degree of anonymity in them, are a convenient tool for offenders to incite young people to commit illegal actions.

“I ask you, together with the social networks represented in the Russian Federation, to consider the possibility of introducing a legal mechanism for verifying registered users, as well as registering children under the age of 14 only with the permission of their legal representatives,” the text of the appeal says.

The MP also noted that social networks are actively used to organize unauthorized actions and mass street riots, in which minors were repeatedly seen among the participants, who, due to their age, are very vulnerable and are susceptible to the influence of various destructive ideas.

Currently, registration is allowed in several social networks in Russia from the age of 13, but in some the recommended age is 18.
