"The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia is constantly monitoring the sanitary and epidemiological situation at universities in connection with the spread of COVID-19 infection," RIA Novosti quoted the press service of the department as saying.
The ministry explained that "the decision to transfer students to a distance learning format depends on the epidemiological situation in each individual region and in the country as a whole."
The Ministry of Education and Science reported that at present "Russian universities continue their work as usual."
Earlier it was reported that 7212 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Russia per day.
The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the country is 1,136,048.
