Three students from the Applied Technology High School in Al Ain City devised a device to reduce the speed of excessive vehicles on the roads by installing sensors on signal poles at pedestrian crossing sites and public streets, which contributes to reducing traffic accidents caused by excessive speed.

The students fought Hamdan Al-Nuaimi, Omar Muhammad Al-Essay, and Sultan Abdul Rahman Al-Maamari, to "Emirates Today", that the work of the "speed reducer" is different from the radar that monitors speed on the roads and does not prevent vehicle drivers from speeding, and suddenly reducing it at every radar, which causes There are accidents, but the "speed reducer" forces the cars not to exceed the speed.

They pointed out that when the car approaches the sensors installed on the signal poles, signals are issued to the "motor" of the vehicle that exceeds the speed, which leads to its gradual decline, stressing that their project, which they completed in six months, cost them about 600 dirhams.

They added, “We have created two systems: the first is for vehicles traveling at high speeds on an external road and wanting to enter a residential area, and in which the sensors installed on the signal poles reduce the speed, and the second system for pedestrians, where anyone who wants to cross the road can press a button on the signal pole And then the car's speed automatically gradually decreases. ”

They indicated that they participated in the project in the National Festival for Science, Technology and Innovation organized by the Ministry of Education last February.
