In an interview with RIA Novosti, the minister noted that contacts between these countries and Israel had already existed for 15-20 years.

“What happened in the White House is not a significant event, it is just a chance to reveal the relationship that has existed for 15-20 years between the Arab countries of the southern coast of the Persian Gulf and the Zionist regime.

These relations indicate that the slogans of these countries to support the Palestinian question and the Palestinians are not real, in fact, they are a stab in the back of the Palestinian people, ”Zarif said.

According to him, such a relationship will certainly harm the security of the Middle East and stimulate "the Zionist regime to suppress the ambitions and rights of the Palestinians."

“Therefore, we opposed these relations and believe that they have been achieved at the expense of the region and its peoples,” Zarif said.

Earlier, Bahrain and the UAE signed agreements with Israel to normalize relations, the ceremony was held in Washington.

The documents were signed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Bahrain Foreign Minister Abdel Latyf al-Zayani and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

US President Donald Trump said that five more Arab countries are considering the possibility of normalizing relations with Israel.
