Center Party member Julie Tran is a regional councilor and also chair of the Östergötland Archipelago Council.

The council works for a living and sustainable archipelago together with the neighbors in Småland.

- The region has a vision and more development and more year-round residents and professionals in the archipelago, but it does not go at all at the pace we want, says Tran.

Denser settlements

All restrictions around the archipelago mean that new buildings can be concentrated in already built-up areas, says Jan Persson, director of public works at the County Administrative Board of Östergötland.

- There may be places in beach protection where it is still possible to build, then it is often a matter of finding places behind existing houses, he says.
