The toll of the new Corona virus in the world

The new Corona virus has caused the death of at least 978,448 people in the world since it was reported that the disease appeared in China at the end of December, according to a census conducted by Agence France-Presse based on official sources Thursday.

More than 31,975,020 people around the world have been infected with the emerging coronavirus, of whom 21,891,500 have recovered to date.

These numbers only reflect part of the actual number of injuries, as several countries do not conduct tests except for the most serious cases, while other countries give priority to conducting tests to track contacts of the injured, in addition to the limited testing capabilities of a number of poor countries.

On Wednesday, there were 6,318 new deaths and 304,210 new infections worldwide.

The countries that recorded the largest number of new deaths in the last 24 hours are the United States, with 1,228 deaths, India (1,129), and Brazil (869).

And the United States is the country most affected by the number of deaths and injuries, with 201,910 deaths out of 6,934,233 injuries, according to the Johns Hopkins University census.

At least 2,670,256 people have recovered.

After the United States, the countries most affected by the epidemic are Brazil, where it recorded 138,977 deaths out of 4,624,885 injuries, then India with 91,149 deaths (5,732,518 injuries), Mexico with 74,949 deaths (710,049 injuries) and Britain with 41,862 deaths (409,729 injuries).

Among the countries most affected, Peru is the country with the largest number of deaths relative to its population, with 97 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Belgium (86), Bolivia (66), Spain (66) and Brazil (65).

To date, China has officially counted (not counting Macau and Hong Kong) 4,634 deaths out of 85,314 injuries (7 new injuries between Wednesday and Thursday), while 80,513 people have recovered.

The region of Latin America and the Caribbean, on Thursday, as of Thursday, reached 330,403 deaths, out of 8,944,819 injuries.

As for Europe, it recorded 227,862 deaths out of 5,060,966 injuries, while the number of deaths announced in the United States and Canada together reached 211,189 (7,081,746 injuries).

Asia recorded 130,109 deaths (7,564,259 injuries), the Middle East 43,430 deaths (1,861,008 injuries), Africa 34,521 deaths (1,430,902 injuries) and Oceania 934 deaths (31,321 injuries).
