It is a very nice check that Rennes Métropole is about to sign to the German group Daimler.

After experimenting with Bolloré's Bluebus, the Rennes metropolitan area has just acquired 92 eCitaro electric buses from the Mercedes-Benz brand for a total amount of 60.565 million euros.

The order placed with the company EvoBus France, a subsidiary of the Daimler group, relates to "33 standard buses and 59 articulated buses", indicates the metropolis in a press release.

This new fleet will be gradually put into service on the Star network between 2022 and 2025.

The new #eCitaro G of @DaimlerTruckBus is the first series #production city bus in its category anywhere in the world with solid-state #batteries.

It's also free of the chemical element cobalt and therefore especially environmentally friendly in the manufacture of the components.

Manufactured in Mannheim, Germany, these Mercedes buses already run on many public transport networks in Germany, Sweden, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

In France, Nice airport recently acquired it.

The articulated models will have four doors, against three currently for articulated buses in service, and five screens.

In 2016, the Rennes metropolitan area made a commitment to switch its entire bus fleet to electric.

Seven Bluebuses from the Bolloré group have already been running on line 12 of the Star network since May 2018, as well as an articulated bus on line C6 since the start of the school year.
