The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has opened a new naval military base in the city of Serik, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz from its eastern side, on an area of ​​31 hectares.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards, Major General Hossein Salami, said during the opening ceremony that the base is located at the most important strategic point in the region in the field of defense and offensive affairs in the Gulf waters and the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that the base is considered a qualitative leap in the field of carrying out combat operations and reconnaissance operations in Gulf waters, as he put it.

He stressed that the establishment of the base began in 2014, with the aim of fully controlling the movements of ships, their entry and exit in the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf waters and the Sea of ​​Oman.
