There are large regional differences in the spread of infection.

In terms of numbers, there are still most who have been confirmed infected with covid-19 in Stockholm, 992.

But per 100,000 inhabitants, the proportion is highest in Dalarna, 87.9.

- It is a fairly typical for this virus, the regional differences.

But it should be remembered that these figures depend a bit on how much the regions have been able to test.

Despite different degrees of testing, Tove Fall thinks that the figures point to an increased spread of infection.

Are you worried?

- Yes of course.

It can be temporary but it can also be the beginning of a second wave.

When it pulls away on a broad front, then I think as an epidemiologist that something common has happened - it may have to do with the weather but also with our work habits and that the semester has begun.

Faster testing process important

But neither the weather nor our work habits will change, says Tove Fall and believes that it is a matter of streamlining by increasing test capacity and increasing infection tracing in the regions.

- Shortening the time from the time you get symptoms to the time you get tested and then get test results is extremely important for infection tracking and isolation to be effective.

There are different levels of isolation, it can be about adult family members being quarantined, everyone in the household or those who have been exposed to infection at a party, for example.

It is mainly at work that the infection spreads, how can insulation help?

- I think that is a misunderstanding.

What is known both internationally and in Sweden is that a large part of the infection takes place within the household, where there is a 20 percent risk of being infected if someone has the virus and 40 percent if they are adults in a relationship.

And those numbers will of course increase if there is a lockdown, says Tove Fall.
