According to TASS, during the meeting of the UN Security Council, Foreign Ministers of China and Russia Wang Yi and Sergey Lavrov and representatives of other countries expressed support for the efforts of the UN and WHO in the fight against the pandemic, and also called for increased international coordination to defeat COVID-19.
At the same time, US Permanent Representative Kelly Kraft said that “she is ashamed of the Council members who decided to focus on political statements, and not on the main problem.”
She also stated that WHO "helped China to hold back cooperation and lie to the world."
“We regret that the US representative chose this meeting, the platform of the Security Council, for baseless accusations against one of the Security Council members, and at the same time the entire Council as a whole,” Nebenzya said.
Earlier, Lavrov, during a meeting of the UN Security Council in video format, said that the Russian side considers the increasing attacks on the UN system, including WHO, to be unfair.
