Lavrov called the attacks on the UN system unfair

“We consider the increasing attacks on the UN system as a whole and its specialized agencies to be absolutely unfair.

This primarily applies to the World Health Organization, ”TASS quotes the words of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Lavrov also said that illegitimate unilateral sanctions undermine the authority and prerogatives of the UN Security Council.

In early September, the US State Department announced the country's plans to withdraw from the World Health Organization in July 2021.

WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed hope that the United States would reconsider its decision to leave the organization.
