As reported by TASS with reference to the Ministry of Defense of the republic, the document defines the basic strategic principles of the state defense and sets out the main steps to strengthen it.

"The priority in this concept is the comprehensive state defense", - said the head of the defense department Artis Pabriks.

He noted that "the new concept is based on four principles of the policy of deterrence and defense - strengthening the National Armed Forces (NAF), the introduction of an integrated state defense, NATO collective defense and international cooperation."

“Due to the increased level of the hybrid threat of the NAF, the state security agencies and other responsible institutions must continue to develop the ability to detect the methods of hybrid warfare carried out against the state,” the minister added.

The concept also states that the presence of NATO forces in Latvia proves the readiness of the allies to support the republic.

Earlier it was reported that modernized air operations control centers were launched in the Baltic States, which are part of the BALTNET airspace monitoring system, which is integrated into NATO air defense.
