Chinanews client, Beijing, September 24th (Zhang Xu) This year's "Golden Week" two festivals are superimposed, what changes will there be for road travel during holidays?

Which time periods and road sections are prone to congestion?

In response to this, Sun Wenjian, spokesperson of the Ministry of Transport, stated at a regular press conference on the 24th that according to forecasts, road trips during the National Day holiday this year will show the following characteristics:

First, there is strong public travel demand. The total traffic of the highway network during the holidays will reach 408 million vehicles. The average daily traffic volume of the national highway network is expected to increase by 1%-3% year-on-year.

It is expected that the national road trips during the National Day holiday this year will be mainly for tourism and family visits, with equal emphasis on short-distance and long-distance trips. The proportion of self-driving trips by small passenger vehicles is relatively high.

It is estimated that the total daily traffic of the expressway network is approximately 51 million vehicles.

Second, the peak of the journey is prominent on the first day of the holiday, and the return time in the later period is relatively scattered.

It is expected that the day before the holiday, that is, on September 30, the traffic volume will increase significantly. Due to the superimposition of the two factors of evening peak and early travel, there will be a continuous peak of traffic from 15 to 23 in the afternoon, and congestion from 19 to 21 in the afternoon. The daily traffic volume of the expressway is expected to exceed 40 million vehicles. The peak of the entire National Day holiday is October 1. There may be a congestion peak from 10 am to 12 am, and the daily traffic volume is expected to reach 54 million vehicles.

Due to the long vacation time and the relatively scattered return time, it is expected that around the 6th will be the concentrated time for the return journey.

Third, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta are prone to congestion and slow traffic.

Large and medium-sized cities enter and exit highway sections, city airport highways and some sections of highways leading to popular scenic spots have a large traffic volume.

Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Xi'an, Chongqing and other cities and the surrounding expressways are prone to congestion and slow traffic.

Sun Wenjian also reminded everyone: “Before driving by car, plan ahead, especially for expressways, take the time for vehicles to leave the exit toll lanes. You don’t have to get together to wait for free and cause congestion. The free pass at 0:00 on October 1, The time of leaving the expressway exit shall prevail. You don’t have to wait until 0:00 on October 1 to enter the toll booth, which will cause congestion at the entrance."
