After the Ministry of National Defense announced today (24th) that North Korea killed and burned a missing public official in Soyeonpyeong Island, foreign media are also dealing with the news quickly and heavily.

Japan's Kyodo News Agency delivered this news through emergency news at 11:37 am today, and Western news agencies such as Reuters, AP, and AFP also wired breaking news right after the Ministry of Defense announced.

The Associated Press also introduced a statement from a South Korean official that the incident appears to have been carried out in accordance with North Korea's strict COVID-19 quarantine rules, including the killing of illegal border crossers.

The AP predicted, "Amid the nuclear diplomatic stalemate between the North and the United States, exchanges and cooperation programs between the two Koreas are virtually suspended, and this incident is expected to intensify the uncomfortable relationship between the two Koreas.

The BBC's Seoul correspondent Laura Bicker introduced a message from USFK Commander Robert Abrams that North Korea had deployed a special force tasked with killing border accessors on the border. This incident was committed by North Korean forces following the killing of a tourist in Mt. Kumgang in 2008. He said it was the second Korean civilian killing.

CNN, a US news channel, also delivered the briefings of the Ministry of Defense as major news, saying that tensions between the two Koreas have risen since North Korea exploded the Gaeseong Inter-Korean Cooperation Office in June for neglecting North Korean refugee groups to spray flyers on North Korea.
