"Under the background of smart medical services supported by'Internet+' technology, hearing screening and hearing aid selection can be carried out online." At the 2020 China National Defense Deaf Conference held in Yinchuan, Ningxia on September 24, China Han Demin, chairman of the International Association for the Promotion of Health Care and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that China's deaf prevention and treatment work has entered a new era of smart interconnection.

Deafness is a worldwide public health problem. According to data released by the World Health Organization, approximately 360 million people worldwide suffer from deafness or hearing impairment.

A sample survey shows that there are 27.8 million hearing-impaired people in China, and the prevention and treatment of deafness has become an important task to safeguard people's health.

The World Health Organization claims that half of all cases of deafness and hearing impairment can be avoided through primary prevention. Therefore, hearing screening is particularly important in preventing deafness.

"In the post-epidemic era, the work port for the prevention and treatment of deafness has moved forward, and a large number of Internet-based hearing screening software has emerged." Han Demin said that nowadays, people can complete hearing screening online through telephone and Internet means, so that they can't get enough. Users find that hearing loss is possible.

At the same time, Internet technology and artificial intelligence have also brought new breakthroughs to the deaf treatment.

Han Demin believes that with the "blessing" of science and technology, the prevention and treatment of deafness has shown a trend of "medical and industrial integration".

"Medicine provides diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation, health care, etc., while engineering provides big data, artificial intelligence and other support. For doctors, it can realize intelligent surgery planning and precise surgery; for audiologists, it can realize intelligent assessment and precise intelligence. Tuning; for the hearing impaired, intelligent voice processing and voice conversion can be realized.” For example, Han Demin, cochlear surgery robots are far more accurate than ordinary surgery. Intelligent cochlear implant tuning machines support background data sharing and smart memory, while remote systems can Connecting patients and fitting specialists across thousands of miles...

There are nearly 600 million rural people in China, and Internet technology has to some extent alleviated the uneven distribution of resources for deaf disease prevention and treatment.

Han Demin said frankly that with the popularization of cochlear implant technology, the prevention and treatment of deafness in cities has been effectively carried out, but for rural and remote areas, China's limited medical resources and medical staff are still beyond reach.

"Therefore, the current focus of deaf disease prevention and control is on the grassroots, rural and remote areas in China. With the help of Internet technology to achieve full coverage of intelligent interconnection for deaf disease prevention and control, can it benefit villages and families." Han Demin said.
