Prime Minister Jean Castex announced Thursday evening on France 2 the closure of indoor swimming pools in enhanced alert zones, ie 11 metropolises.

The outdoor swimming pools will however remain open.

After sports halls and gymnasiums, indoor swimming pools will in turn have to close their doors in heightened alert zones.

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced this Thursday evening on France 2, in the program "Vous ont la parole".

This measure will apply in 11 metropolises, including Paris, Lille and Toulouse.

The Prime Minister did not detail the terms of this closure, but he did however indicate the outdoor swimming pools will remain open.

The indoor swimming pools will also be closed in Aix-Marseille and Guadeloupe, placed on maximum alert.

Closures of sports halls and gymnasiums

The Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced Wednesday evening "the closure of sports halls and gymnasiums" because "these are confined spaces where wearing a mask is impossible to see at least complex and which are unfortunately places of significant contamination" .

These measures could have significant repercussions on amateur sport, which has started feverishly since the start of the school year.
