China News Agency, United Nations, September 23. The Lebanese International Support Group Ministerial Meeting was held on the 23rd by video.

Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, attended the meeting and explained China's position.

Zhang Jun said that the Beirut explosion caused great pain to the Lebanese people, and its political, economic and social shocks are still ongoing.

The new crown pneumonia epidemic, the impact of the big bang, and the regional turmoil are superimposed, and Lebanon's economic and social development is facing severe challenges.

At this difficult time, the international community must stand with the Lebanese government and people.

One is to create favorable conditions for Lebanon's political process.

The international community should create a good atmosphere for Lebanon to carry out inclusive dialogue and build consensus, earnestly respect Lebanon's sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence, and support Lebanon in exploring a development path that suits its national conditions.

The international support group should uphold a fair and balanced position and play a constructive role.

The second is to help Lebanon develop its economy and improve people's livelihood.

Reconstruction after the explosion and epidemic prevention and control are urgent tasks for the Lebanese government and people.

The international community should concentrate its efforts to implement its commitments and provide assistance for Lebanon's reconstruction and fight against the epidemic.

Aid to Lebanon should be tangible, with no empty checks and no political conditions attached.

The third is to support Lebanon in maintaining national security and stability.

Lebanon’s long-term stability cannot be separated from a stable surrounding environment.

China urges relevant parties to abide by the relevant resolutions of the Security Council, respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and avoid actions that may escalate the situation.

The international community should consolidate its support for UNIFIL and provide adequate guarantees for its performance.

The meeting was co-chaired by UN Secretary-General Guterres and French Foreign Minister Le Drian, Lebanese Prime Minister Diab, Italian Foreign Minister Di Maio, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Borelli, Arab League Secretary-General Gate and the United Kingdom, Representatives from the United States, Germany, Russia, and the World Bank attended the meeting.
