24 September 2020Asks to go to house arrest Christian Gabriel Natale Hjort, the American student accused - in competition with Finnegan Lee Elder - of the murder of the deputy sergeant of the carabinieri, Mario Cerciello Rega.

His defenders, lawyers Francesco Petrelli and Fabio Alonzi, have filed an application with the first Court of Assizes of Rome where the trial for the murder that took place on July 26, 2019 is underway.

In the application, the defenders of Hjorth ( currently detained in Regina Coeli) ask the Court to grant the transfer of Hjorth to house arrest at his grandparents' house in Fregene, on the Roman coast.

According to the defense, the precautionary requirements can "be considered considerably diminished" or in any case "of such a degree that they can be satisfied with the house arrest, possibly with the electronic bracelet".

Furthermore, there would also be an absence of "danger of escape and of the risk of repeating the crime".
