The Green Party is far from the first crisis party to believe that the rescue is a new party leader.

That someone should step in as a savior and convince the voters that the party has the answers to the crucial questions.

But party leader effects should not be exaggerated, especially not in the Green Party where there are two who will share the spotlight.

With that said, this mouthpiece choice is more important than in a long time.

Not only for the Green Party, the election can also increase the risk of a government crisis.

End of concessions to the Social Democrats

Anyone who talks around with environmentalists will soon notice that a basic requirement for the next woman at the helm is that she should be tougher against the big governing party.

Regardless of whether it is about the expansion of Preem's oil refinery or the migration issue, there must be an end to painful concessions to the Social Democrats.

If it means that you have to leave the government, it must be so.

The fact that, after six years, they seem to have proved to the voters that they can govern also plays into the conviction that it is not possible to give in again.

At least as important on the party comrades' list of demands is that the new mouthpiece has luminosity and "goes through the window".

That she is more skilled at selling in the party's policy than Isabella Lövin.

The Liberals who elected Nyamko Sabuni (L) had the same hopes.

They're still waiting.

Moves the positions forward

Another common denominator for crisis parties is the belief that the solution is to broaden.

And for the Green Party, the answer seems to be a clearer left turn.

There are no new ideas in the Green Party, but now they are included in the requirements specification for a new mouthpiece, especially among the party's young people.

The idea is to advance the positions on issues of equality and social justice and thus place oneself clearly between the Left Party and the Social Democrats.

The fact that close to 80 percent of those who voted for the party in 2018 place themselves on the left is taken into account because it is the only way.

But the question is how much can it give to try to compete with the Left Party at their home ground?

Why should voters who think that equality, more money for welfare and higher taxes for the richest vote for MP and not for V?

No problems, say the environmentalists, the Left Party never prioritises the climate when it really matters and in addition, Jonas Sjöstedt (V) must stop.

Shutting out SD is crucial

The memoir recalls that the last time things went well for the Green Party, they also managed to attract voters from the other side of the traditional bloc border, especially women.

But - say the environmentalists - it was a different time.

Then the moderate leader Fredrik Reinfeldt attacked the Sweden Democrats for "bringing hatred into Swedish politics" and appealed to the Swedes to open their hearts.

Of course it was easier to be in the middle then.

Here is also the answer to why Stefan Löfven (S) probably does not have to lie sleepless waiting for a new mouthpiece.

Because even if the Green Party, against all odds, would eventually resign from the government, they will never act so that there is a possibility that Ulf Kristersson (M) may move into Rosenbad with the support of the Sweden Democrats.

Shutting the Sweden Democrats out of influence will always be crucial for the Green Party.

The party's founder Per Gahrton put it this way in the magazine Miljömagasinet 2018:

“Environmentalists should certainly be fundraisers, the need for radical change in the era of the climate crisis is enormous.

But methodically, the Greens must be realistic so as not to play over power to the ideological heirs of 1930s racism due to misguided pure doctrine. ”
