Khaled Drareni, imprisoned for nearly six months, has become the symbol of the fight for press freedom in the country.

Founder of the Casbah TribuneIl news site, he is also the correspondent in Algeria for the French-speaking channel TV5 Monde and for Reporters Without Borders.

Last week, he was sentenced on appeal to two years in prison for "inciting unarmed assembly" and "undermining national unity".

The severity of the sentence sparked outrage in the country.

This cassation appeal is Khaled Drareni's desire not to accept, to reject this conviction that he does not deserve and which is not justified in view of the file and its content.

It is confirmed day by day that it is much more of a political, judicial condemnation, since the case of Khaled Drareni is the subject of interventions through the media, through press conferences, both by the chief of the State, of the Minister in charge of Communication and spokesperson for the government… But also, to the interference of many private and public media, to condemn Khaled Drareni, before justice condemns him.

So today, we understand well, it is well established, that it is a politico-judicial relentlessness, much more than a judicial conviction, which is justified.
