US Congress passed a bill to restrict imports of products produced in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, September 23, 14:31

The US House of Representatives has passed a bill that severely restricts the import of locally produced products into the United States to prevent forced labor, which has been pointed out in China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region.

From now on, the deliberation in the Senate will be the focus.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill to prevent forced labor in China's Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region on the 22nd, saying that Uighur ethnic minorities have been detained in facilities by the Chinese government and forced labor is being carried out. It was passed by the overwhelming majority of the opposition 3.

In principle, the bill prohibits imports of products produced in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region into the United States unless it can be confirmed that the products are not produced by forced labor.

Prior to the passage, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi emphasized that "the US Congress will not sacrifice human rights issues for commercial gain. It will send its strong message to the Chinese government and the world in this bill." ..

Regarding products in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the US Department of Homeland Security announced this month that it will suspend imports of some products, alleging that they were produced by forced labor.

The bill will further restrict imports, but the US Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed strong concern over the bill on the 22nd, with some American companies buying products from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The enactment of the bill also requires the Senate to pass, and the Senate will focus on deliberation in the future.
