The State Department refused to recognize Lukashenko as the legally elected president

The United States cannot consider Alexander Lukashenko the legally elected leader of the country, ”the agency's source said.

On September 23, Lukashenko was inaugurated at the Palace of Independence, during which he officially took office as President of Belarus.

Lukashenko said at the inauguration ceremony that the "color revolution" in the country did not take place.

As stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia, Lukashenka “has no legitimacy”.

The official representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany Steffen Seibert also stated that Lukashenka "cannot claim democratic legitimacy."

A similar statement was made by the Czech Foreign Ministry, the Polish Foreign Ministry and the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
