It was during the night towards Tuesday that the police were alerted that a clown with a machete had chased a couple of young people in Bollnäs.
The police therefore went to the scene but no clown was found.
The incident attracted a lot of media attention and there was speculation about what had actually happened.
Now, however, the mystery seems to have been solved.
Called in myself
On Tuesday afternoon, a shy man in his 20s called the police to tell them that he was the clown in Bollnäs and it was all about a joke that derailed.
- Now we will see how we will proceed in the case.
Several people must have been seriously scared, says Mikael Hedström, press spokesperson at the police.
The incident is currently being classified as an illegal threat.
