It was in December last year that a 19-year-old man was beaten and stabbed to death at a travel center in Boden.

At the end of June, one man was convicted of murder, two of aggravated assault and one of aiding and abetting assault.

The man convicted of murder received 13 years in prison in the district court, while the two who were convicted of aggravated assault received three and two years and six months in prison respectively.

The prison sentence was changed from 13 to 1.5 years

The prosecutor then appealed the verdict and wanted the man who was sentenced to 3 years in prison for aggravated assault to be convicted of murder.

The two men also appealed the district court's ruling and wanted the court of appeal to sentence them both to assault.

In the Court of Appeal, the two men were acquitted of murder, the sentence was changed for both of them to one and a half years in prison and they were instead sentenced to aggravated assault.

- Since the prosecutor has not succeeded in proving that it was the man the prosecutor pointed out and not any other of the accused men who handed out the stabbing, no one can be convicted of murder, said Court of Appeal President Erik Sundström in a press release in connection with the verdict.

Request the appeal

Now the chief prosecutor in Luleå, Thomas Ennefors, has written and requested that the public prosecutor appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court.

- It is unfortunate that the Court of Appeal has only made a limited trial, he says to SVT Nyheter Norrbotten.

Wednesday is the last day before the Court of Appeal ruling comes into force.
