It is in a debate article in Dagens Samhälle that four regional representatives and the chairman of the Bothnian Corridor, Elvy Söderström (S), give their views on what the railway of the future should look like.

SVT Västernorrland has previously been able to report that Nordlund advocates an idea that the Swedish Transport Administration is now investigating.

The aim is not to build high-speed trains between the three largest cities, but instead to invest in increased speeds on the entire national railway network.

It is believed that it would cost less, do much more good and be completed earlier than the high-speed lines.

High speed rail for expensive

In addition to Elvy Söderström, Nordina has now joined Stina Höök (M) Regional Councilor in the Värmland Region, Nils-Olov Lindfors (C) Regional Councilor in the Norrbotten Region and Andreas Svahn (S), Chairman of the Regional Board in the Örebro Region.

The debaters point out that the Swedish Transport Administration's investigation shows that the high-speed lines cannot be built within the cost framework of SEK 205 billion that has been set up.

They believe that you get more for your money if you invest in a cohesive view of the railway network instead of individual investments.

Cohesive network

Now they want the government to switch to the Swedish Transport Administration's track to build a railway network for 250 kilometers per hour between the metropolitan regions of Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Oslo and Stockholm and between Stockholm and Luleå.

"A high-class railway that would greatly reduce today's travel times by train and create a backbone for the transport system and connecting lines," it is written.
