The former project manager at the Elysee Palace Alexandre Benalla was hospitalized Tuesday evening in an intensive care unit after being infected with Covid-19, his entourage told AFP on Wednesday, confirming information from the Parisian.

Mr. Benalla, aged 29, "was transported by the SAMU and firefighters to the intensive care unit of Cochin hospital, for a worsening" of his state of health, "being positive for the Covid", said his entourage, by specifying that he was still hospitalized Wednesday morning in the same department.

Former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Presidency, and in charge of the security of candidate Macron during the 2017 campaign, Mr. Benalla was sacked in July 2018 after being accused of violence committed during a demonstration on the 1st May 2018. The revelation of this affair had plunged the majority into political turmoil.

Mr. Benalla is currently the subject of six judicial inquiries.

On September 4, the Paris prosecutor's office demanded a trial for "forgery", "forgery" and "undue use" of diplomatic passports.

Indicted for the initial case of May 1, 2018, he is also subject to proceedings for suspicion of concealing evidence, "false testimony" or "failure to comply with the reporting obligations to the HATVP (High Authority for the Transparency of public life) ".

Mr. Benalla has since leaving the Elysee Palace created a company specializing "in the fields of economic intelligence, influence, risk management, crisis management and cyber & tech".
