Blekinge Hospital has earlier in the spring been hard hit by the coronavirus, as it spread to, among others, the surgery department and the geriatric department.
The majority of those who died of the virus in Blekinge had been infected in connection with hospital visits.
Now the spread of infection has gained new momentum in the surgical department again, after two employees and two patients were found infected.
These are two elderly men, one of whom is now receiving hospital care for covid-19.
Now a new intake stop is being introduced in the surgeon's department.
- We can not know for sure that any of those affected, neither patients nor staff, have been infected in the ward, but the connection there is still so clear that we judge that we need to make an intake stop for the time being, says Bengt Wittesjö, infection control doctor, in a press release.
