Follow the salvage work in Yle's live broadcast from Åland

M / S Amorella will first be moved to deeper waters, where the damage to the ship's bottom will be investigated, Yle writes.

It is not clear why the ship started taking in water.

The actual move to the port of Långnäs on Åland will take place later in the day, possibly only in the afternoon.

If everything flows smoothly, the entire operation can be completed by the evening.

To facilitate detachment from the ground, the plan is to first pump water into the ship's double hull in the bow while moving the cargo to the stern. There are still 41 trucks, 40 cars and some of the passengers' belongings on board the ship, writes Yle.
