Nykvarn is the lowest lock and power plant in Stångån in the middle of Linköping - a project that is quite a few years long
- Aspen is a target species.
We knew that there were aspen left in Roxen and Motalaström, but we did not know how many wanted to go up in Stångån after there had been a stop for 150 years, says Gunnar Ölfvingsson, Linköping's municipal ecologist.

Due to the power plant, the municipality is building this new water fishing route, the stream channel.
It has been a long-standing project and combined with a functioning urban environment and a park that really attracts people, it is Linköping's largest nature conservation investment to date.
- We create good ecological status in our watercourses and remove obstacles to fish and other aquatic migratory organisms and thereby comply with the EU's water directive.
