Anders Tegnell has a doctorate in infectious disease medicine from Linköping University.
He has worked for the World Health Organization WHO in Laos and Zaire (now Congo-Kinshasa).
Anders Tegnell is head of department and state epidemiologist at the Swedish Public Health Agency, where he leads and coordinates Sweden's national infection control, for which he received international attention during the current corona pandemic.
He also lives in Vreta Kloster outside Linköping and commutes daily by train to work in Stockholm.
