According to the regional customs directorate, it was Tuesday afternoon a “classic check” at the Tain-l'Hermitage toll (Drôme).

One of the agents present was struck and seriously injured by a car wanting to flee, reveal the firefighters of the department.

The victim, aged 39, was transported to hospital in Valencia "in a state of absolute emergency", according to the same source.

According to

Le Dauphiné Libéré

, the implicated vehicle (which would be stolen) was intercepted a few moments later by the departmental road safety squadron of Drôme and its two occupants were placed in police custody.

The vital prognosis of the agent of the Romans-sur-Isère brigade was not engaged at the time of his transport to hospital, according to a source close to the investigation.

With @BrunoLeMaire we would like to show our full support to the agent @douane_france of the Romans brigades, injured today in the exercise of his functions.

We also provide support to family and colleagues.
