On September 17, Shi Ruiqi, who was at his home in Nashville, Tennessee, got up early, opened his voice, practiced his voice, and performed live tests in preparation for the upcoming "Water Cube" finals.

According to the order of the draw, Shi Ruiqi was the second to last to play.

"Do you remember, the hot summer of memory..." Together with her singing, she substituted the audience into the story told by the song, and obtained a high score of 9.973 points, ranking first in the overseas youth group.

"Her singing is indifferent and free, without using too much skill, her voice is simple and full of emotion, and she is very talented in singing." One of the judges of the competition and the famous Chinese singer Zhu Hua commented on Shi Ruiqi's singing.

Talking about the feeling of winning the championship, Shi Ruiqi said that it was a little unexpected.

"Although I think I performed well, I didn't expect to win the first place." When it came to this, Shi Ruiqi smiled shyly.

In fact, this year is Shi Ruiqi's second time to participate in the "Water Cube Cup" competition. In 2019, she participated in the trials of the New York Division, but unfortunately failed to enter the Beijing Finals.

"The New York Division’s game site is 11 hours’ drive away from our home. I remember that I finished the game last year. On my way home, I had already started to choose songs for the next year’s game. At that time, I decided that I would play this year’s game. Enter the'Finals.' Shi Ruiqi said.

"Star" singer in the Chinese community

Shi Ruiqi's mother recalled that at the beginning she needed to mark Chinese lyrics with pinyin so that Ruiqi could sing according to the pronunciation. Later, Ruiqi's Chinese became better and better. Not only did she no longer need pinyin, but she could also understand the meaning of the lyrics.

"Now she is trying to compose music and has also created some original songs."

"In March of this year, because of the epidemic, everyone could not go out. The community organized an online concert, but the music must be original." Shi Ruiqi's mother said that although Ruiqi has never written a song, she started to learn from the age of five or six. Piano, understand some music theory, and familiar with the structure of the song, so it took three days to write an English song "holdon", sang it at the concert and received a lot of praise.

She will guide everyone in Chinese pronunciation.” Shi Ruiqi said that some time ago, there was a Chinese song "Yijianmei" that was very popular in the United States. We taught this song. We also sang songs such as "Fake Monk".

Shi Ruiqi told reporters that now the person in charge of the Chinese Song Club is her sister. After her sister goes to college, she will "take over" and continue the club.

"After learning to sing in the club, everyone's Chinese level has improved significantly, so I want to keep doing it."
