It is noted that Guterres called the pandemic "the fifth horseman of the Apocalypse" in his speech at the general political debate of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

"We are experiencing a defining moment ... This pandemic has led to a crisis that is unlike any of the crises that we have ever seen before," TASS quoted him as saying.

In January, the UN Secretary General already announced the arrival of the four "horsemen of the Apocalypse."

The fifth, according to him, was in the shadows at that time.

“However, the fifth rider was hiding in the shadows ... Since January, the rider of the COVID-19 pandemic has been galloping around the world, who joined four others and increased the destructive power of each of them,” he stressed.

As Guterres noted, the world is now trying to cope with a range of challenges simultaneously, including the health crisis, economic decline, unemployment and human rights threats.

Earlier, American doctors predicted an "apocalyptic autumn" in the United States due to the intensification of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection pandemic in the country.
