Ankara played down the importance of including a Turkish shipping company by the European Union in the sanctions list, claiming it violated the arms embargo to Libya, but at the same time it criticized the move and considered it a wrong act that confirms the bias of the EU countries towards "the revolutionaries."

In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said that the European Union should abandon its biased stance and move with Turkey within the framework of consultation and cooperation if it wants security and stability in the region.

The statement pointed out that Irene's European operation to ban arms supplies to Libya is considered a reward for the coup, Khalifa Haftar, and a punishment for the legitimate government in Tripoli.

He pointed out that the Union considers the Turkish aid provided to the legitimate government in Libya as a violation of the embargo, while ignoring the countries and companies that support the coup Haftar with weapons by land and air, especially the UAE.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry affirmed that this European Union’s position is conclusive evidence of its lack of neutrality and its bias towards the revolutionaries in Libya.

3 companies

The European Union imposed sanctions yesterday, Monday, on 3 companies, namely, the Kazakhstani Sigma for Air Cargo, the Jordanian Med Wave Shipping, and the Turkish Eurasia Shipping under the pretext of violating the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

And the French News Agency reported that the Turkish "Afrasia Shipping" took over the operation of the "Gerkin", which transported military equipment to Libya in May and June of last year.

But Ankara stressed that the decision "has no value from its perspective."

In 2011, the United Nations imposed an embargo on arms exports to Libya.

Libya, which has the largest oil reserves in Africa, is witnessing a conflict between the forces of the United Nations-recognized Government of National Accord, based in Tripoli, and the forces of the retired Major General Khalifa Haftar, who controls the east and part of the south of the country and is supported by the parliament in Tobruk.

The Government of National Accord has the support of Turkey and Qatar, while Haftar is supported by Russia, Egypt, the UAE and France.
