Catalonia will reduce quarantines for close contacts with a positive for coronavirus from 14 to 10 days.
This was announced this morning by the Secretary of Public Health of the Generalitat,
Josep Maria Argimon
, in an interview on TV3.
The health official explained that the measure involves "a certain but controllable risk" and that the reduction seeks to "improve" compliance with quarantines.
The decision was made after looking at models "like the one in the Netherlands or Switzerland."
Argimon, on the other hand, does not believe that in Catalonia there are adequate conditions to reduce this term to seven days, as is the case in France.
The Catalan Secretary of Public Health explained that various epidemiological experts had recommended reducing the days of isolation so that affected people who do not present symptoms of Covid-19 could regain work and social normality as soon as possible.
