China News Service, Beijing, September 22 (Reporter Chen Jian) Extending 25 kilometers east from Tiananmen Square, Chang'an Avenue meets the Grand Canal.

To the east of the junction and outside the East Sixth Ring Road, is the open and comfortable Beijing-level administrative center.

That is also one of the landmarks of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development of the national strategy.

With Beijing’s Tongzhou as the north end and the 3200-kilometer-long Grand Canal as the line and the city as the bead, the "line beaded and beaded" connects the eight provinces and cities of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, and Shandong and Henan.

This is one of the regions with the most developed economy and society, the most prominent level of urbanization, and the strongest development momentum in China.

In 2017, the Grand Canal basin accounted for less than 10% of the country's land area, carried 36.5% of the country's population, and contributed 44.8% of the total economy.

In the southern wing of the Grand Canal, including the Yangtze River Delta in the whole area of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, the economy is active, with a high degree of openness and strong innovation capabilities.

In 2019, the total imports and exports, foreign direct investment, and foreign investment in the Yangtze River Delta accounted for 37%, 39%, and 29% of the country's total.

In the north wing of the Grand Canal, a huge system project has been rolled out in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei for six and a half years.

With the perseverance of rolling stones uphill and climbing hills and hurdles, Beijing has relieved non-capital functions, promoted the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and realized the interconnection of infrastructure, the joint construction and sharing of public services, and the joint protection of the ecological environment.

29 (sections) of 1,774-kilometer docking expressways including Beijing-Kunming, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao, Beijing-Taiwan, and Capital Region Ring Road have been opened up in the six and a half years of the implementation of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development strategy.

The Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway, the Zhangtang Railway, the Tianjin-Baozhou Intercity Railway, and the Shiji Passenger Dedicated Railway Station were completed and opened to traffic. The Beijing-Xiong Intercity Beijing Daxing Airport to the Hebei Xiong'an Station has begun a joint test and dynamic testing.

"Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei on track" is taking shape.

The improvement of infrastructure has promoted commerce and logistics, and has slowly bulged the pockets of Hebei people.

Over the past six years, 50,000 Beijing merchants have moved to Hebei to open stores.

In 2019, Hebei Province completed 2.3 billion express delivery services, an increase of 32.3%; completed express delivery revenue of 24.24 billion yuan, an increase of 34.1%, ranking first in the country.

The 1-hour circulation circle of fresh agricultural products around the capital has been completed and put into operation one after another. Agricultural products in Hebei Province account for 40% of the Beijing market.

Nowadays, people in Hebei can enjoy the same medical insurance benefits in 15 hospitals including Beijing Children's Hospital, Tongren Hospital and Peking University Hospital with social security cards.

Over the past six years, 33 clinical test results have been mutually recognized in 296 medical institutions in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and 20 medical imaging examination data have been shared among 155 medical institutions on a trial basis.

The annual average concentration of PM2.5 in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region dropped from 106 micrograms/m3 in 2013 to 50 micrograms/m3 in 2019, a significant decrease of 52.8%.

The Grand Canal, which has been excavated for more than 2,500 years, inherits the long history and civilization of the Chinese nation, and is a magnificent poem written on the land of China.

In the current race against time, the aviation hub has long replaced the former water transport terminal and has become the jewel in the economic and social development chain.

Relying on Beijing Daxing International Airport at the junction of Beijing and Hebei, China's first cross-provincial free trade zone was officially listed at the end of August last year.

Deepening reforms, opening wider to the outside world, optimizing the business environment, improving the service quality of government departments, and allowing entrepreneurs to invest with confidence, operate with confidence, and concentrate on entrepreneurship are the most important tasks of the free trade zone.

On September 23, the second "Beijing-Hangzhou Dialogue" of China's Grand Canal Cultural Belt will be held not far from the Beijing-level administrative center.

Relying on the dialogue platform, Beijing and Hangzhou can not only strengthen exchanges, but the two major areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Yangtze River Delta can also open up and deepen cooperation.

The Grand Canal will be better protected, inherited and used in exchanges and cooperation.
