According to an exclusive BVA survey for Nexans Climate Day, one in three French people is ready to devote part of their purchasing power to invest in green products.

Executives would be the most prone to this sacrifice, just ahead of the under 35s.

The environment may well be the main concern of a majority of French people, they are not all ready to translate this desire into action.

This is in any case the main lesson of an exclusive BVA poll for the Nexans Climate Day, which is held this Tuesday at the Longchamps racecourse, and that Europe 1 was able to consult.

In detail, one in three French people say they are ready to devote a little of their budget to the fight against global warming.

This "a little" means, concretely 1% to 5%, of what remains once all the invoices are honored.

Pay more for green products or services

The French do not want to make this investment in the form of a tax, but by choosing clothes or services that are more respectful of the environment.

This is what Thierry Antoine and his wife are already doing, parents of three children: "In our family, we have decided to switch to renewable energy", he testifies at the microphone of Europe 1. And if he recognizes that his bill has increased by 10%, he has "the impression of participating in a changing world, a little less polluting and more respectful of the environment".

But their action does not stop at the switch: they have also selected their bank, their financial investments and their insurance contracts according to their impact on the environment.

Executives more inclined to this sacrifice

According to the survey carried out by BVA, executives are the most inclined to accept a drop in their disposable income for the environment (52%), just ahead of those under 35 (47%).

Conversely, the most reluctant are those whose income is the most fragile: employees and workers.

But 25% of them still say they are ready to take the plunge.

One in two French people are thinking of buying an electric car

Among the other results of this survey, we discover that one in two French people say they consider the future acquisition of an electric car.

More generally, 85% of respondents are in favor of installing solar panel fields in France, 78% for wind turbines off the French coast and 66% for onshore wind turbines.
