The number of people being cared for for gunshot wounds in Stockholm County has more than tripled in the last ten years.

A total of 400 people were cared for in the region between 2009 and 2019, which corresponds to a third of the country's total gunshot wounds.

Trauma Center at Karolinska has calculated the costs of these gunshot wounds.

This year, 38 patients have been treated for gunshot wounds, at a total cost of SEK 10,106,306 and an average number of care days of 6.5 per patient.

In total, the region has thus paid an average of over a quarter of a million per patient, which corresponds to 100 million over a ten-year period - or 74 annual salaries for a nurse according to the region's calculations.
