Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz will leave for Washington Monday evening to meet with his American counterpart, Mark Esper, and will discuss ensuring Israel's qualitative military superiority in the region.

The Israeli Jerusalem Post reported today that Gantz will head to the United States at the head of a small delegation of Israeli military officials.

She added that Gantz will discuss military procurement, international policy regarding Iran, preventing the strengthening and entrenchment of Tehran in the Middle East, as well as security cooperation between Israel and the United States.

For his part, the Israeli news site Walla said that Gantz will discuss with his US counterpart and White House officials a possible deal to sell F-35s to the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump confirmed that he did not personally have a problem with selling advanced F-35 fighters to the UAE, but he acknowledged the possibility of concerns among others, prior to the signing ceremony of the agreement to normalize relations between the UAE and Israel.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in recent weeks that the agreement to normalize relations with the UAE does not include Israeli approval to sell F-35s to the UAE.

And Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed in Israel at the end of last month that the United States is committed to Israel's qualitative military superiority in the region.

And Israel is the only one in the region that has dozens of "F-35" or stealth aircraft.
