According to him, the deal is good only for the American side, for Russia there is nothing attractive in it.

“This would certainly be a good deal for the US itself.

From this point of view, Ambassador Billingsley is right.

As for the Russian side, there are no grounds for any kind of deal, in the form proposed by our colleagues in Washington, ”he said in an interview with Kommersant.

According to him, the three points put forward by Washington as a precondition for them to make a decision in favor of extending the START Treaty, for the Russian side seem too far-reaching and do not contain attractive elements.

"On the basis that the Americans are proposing, a good deal is not in sight," he stressed.

Ryabkov noted that Moscow had proposed extending the START Treaty as it was signed.

“We are not looking for any unilateral advantages for ourselves, but we will not make unilateral concessions,” he said.

Earlier, the US President's Special Representative for Arms Control Marshall Billingsley spoke about the extension of the START Treaty.

In late August, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Moscow and Washington had held productive and comprehensive negotiations on a possible extension of START III.
