Consequences of municipal elections and the appointment of the government in July, we voted this Sunday in France but in only six constituencies.

And as often for partial legislative elections, the first round of the ballot was characterized by a massive abstention of more than 75%.

Even more than usual, voters did not rush to the polls amid the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic.

87% abstention in Val-de-Marne

Abstention exceeds 79% in the 1st district of Haut-Rhin, 82% in the 5th of Seine-Maritime and in the 3rd of Maine-et-Loire, 84% in the 1st of Reunion and even reaches 87% in the 9th district of Val-de-Marne.

The results in the 11th of Yvelines are not yet known.

In the 5th district of Seine-Maritime, it is the socialist candidate Gérard Leseul who comes out ahead with nearly 40% of the vote.

He will face the RN candidate Jean-Cyril Montier (18.01%), the only qualified in the second round, while the LREM candidate came third with only 10.72% of the vote.

Gérard Leseul is in a good position to succeed the PS deputy Christophe Bouillon, elected since 2007, who resigned to devote himself to his mandate as mayor of Barentin.

The RN largely distanced in the Haut-Rhin

In Colmar and Neuf-Brisach, in a constituency traditionally anchored to the right, the ballot saw eight candidates compete to succeed Eric Straumann (LR) who became mayor of Colmar, while his deputy Brigitte Klinkert entered the government as minister delegate in charge of Integration.

If his candidacy had created some dissension within local LR, Yves Hemedinger, former first deputy to the outgoing mayor of Colmar Gilbert Meyer, comes out largely in the lead with 45.39% of the vote.

In the second round, he will face the EELV candidate, Frédéric Hilbert, who gathered 23.53% of the vote, well ahead of the RN candidate (14.04%).

In Maine-et-Loire, it is unsurprisingly the LR candidate Anne-Laure Blin who leads with 25% of the vote, ahead of the left-wing environmentalist candidate Daphnée Raveneau (22.8%).

In this constituency anchored to the right, Anne-Laure Blin is therefore well on the way to succeed Jean-Charles Taugourdeau (LR), member since 2002, who resigned after his re-election as mayor of Beaufort-en-Anjou.

Karine Lebon deprived of a victory in the first round in Réunion

With 52.15% of the vote, Karine Lebon (union of the lefts) came comfortably in the lead of the first round in Reunion, in front of the various right Audrey Fontaine (15.83%).

Only the abstention amounting to 84.85% deprived her of a victory in the first round.

Karine Lebon is supported by Huguette Bello, who resigned from the National Assembly after her election as mayor of Saint-Paul.

In Val-de-Marne, the PS candidate Isabelle Santiago is in the lead with 33.74% of the vote, ahead of the ecologist Sandra Regol, deputy national secretary of Europe Ecology-The Greens (EELV), who obtains 17.35 % voices.
