“There were tremors in four districts of the Republic of Buryatia with a magnitude of 2.5-3 points,” the message says.
As noted, information about the destruction and casualties has been reported.
“Eight teams are working in Buryatia to inspect buildings and structures,” they added.
Earlier, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 occurred in the area of Lake Baikal.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9 occurred in the Irkutsk region.
The Irkutsk administration later announced the introduction of a high alert regime after the earthquake.
