September 21, 2020 "Rosario Livatino, Deputy Public Prosecutor and then Judge of the Prevention Measures Section of the Court of Agrigento, conducted important accounting and banking investigations on criminal organizations operating in the area and their economic interests. He has, among the first, identified the close link between the mafia and business, focusing attention on the links of organized crime with business groups. Aware of the delicate role of the judge in an evolving society and of the need for the judiciary to be and show itself independent, he carried out his activity with sobriety, moral rigor, firmness and tireless commitment, convinced of representing the State in the special function of law enforcement ".

Thus the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a statement on the thirtieth anniversary of the killing of Judge Rosario Livatino.

"Remembering the cowardly killing of Rosario Livatino recalls the need to resist the intimidation of the mafia by opposing compromising logic and indifference, which undermine the foundations of the rule of law", says the Head of State.

"Thirty years later - says Mattarella - I would like to express my appreciation and closeness for all the initiatives promoted in memory of this valiant magistrate and renew the feelings of participation and gratitude of the country to all those who have known him and admired him in recent years they have constantly kept the memory alive ".
