The General Administration of Customs announced on the 21st that under the command of the General Administration of Customs, 10 directly affiliated customs including Shenzhen and Beijing participated in the cracking of a very large diamond smuggling case.

After preliminary verification, the suspected gang involved in diamond smuggling is worth 3.88 billion yuan since 2015.

  It is understood that on September 1, 10 customs directly under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, Harbin, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu, etc., dispatched more than 1,000 police forces, divided into more than 200 action groups to carry out the "8.04" simultaneously. Combating diamond smuggling and centralized net collection operations.

During the operation, the customs anti-smuggling department arrested a total of 121 suspects and seized more than 2,520 diamonds, more than 4,000 carats of broken diamonds, and 158 diamond-encrusted jewelry suspected of smuggling at the scene.

  After preliminary investigations, the domestic cargo owner group ordered diamonds from a number of overseas diamond suppliers, and the cargo solicitation group and customs clearance group collected the goods in Hong Kong, and then passed the "Shuike", Guangdong and Hong Kong brand trolley passengers to hide in person and truck. The way is smuggled from Shenzhen Luohu, Huanggang and other ports, and then the goods are delivered directly to the owner, or delivered to other domestic owners through express logistics.

  In the next step, the customs will continue to increase inspection and supervision efforts and severely crack down on diamond smuggling activities.

At the same time, it will further strengthen comprehensive governance, and work with local governments and industry associations to urge enterprises to abide by the law and self-discipline, regulate their operations, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of related industries.
