Munich introduces mandatory masking in public places - page 1

The city of Munich has decided that masks are compulsory in certain public places and streets in the city center.

This is the result of a meeting of the city's crisis team that met that morning.

The regulation should apply from Thursday for seven days.

In addition, the city is reintroducing restrictions in public and private life due to rising corona numbers.

As of Thursday, only five people or two households are likely to meet in the Bavarian capital, said Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) at a press conference in Munich.

This applies to both private and public spaces as well as in gastronomy.

At event-related private celebrations, only 25 people indoors and 50 in the fresh air are likely to be present, Reiter said.

On Sunday, the corona numbers in Munich had reached 55.6 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in one week.

This means that an important limit value for proven new corona infections has been exceeded.
