UN sanctions against Iran are back in force, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Saturday.

Pompeo also threatened with consequences if other Member States did not implement sanctions.

These are sanctions related to the Iranian nuclear deal that the United States has tried to re-enact in the UN Security Council.

However, it has been largely unsupported in the Council.

In particular, according to European Member States, sanctions do not apply.

China and Russia are also against sanctions.

The United States withdrew from the nuclear deal with Iran in 2018. On the issue of sanctions, however, the United States still considers itself a party to the deal.
