The Chinese authorities monitor the Corona virus on imported squid packages

Health authorities in Fuyi City, northeastern Guilin Province, said today, Sunday, that the provincial authorities have detected the emerging corona virus on an imported squid package, and urged everyone who bought it to undergo virus testing.

The Fuyi City Health Bureau said, on its official account on the WeChat website, today, Sunday, that one of those packages arrived in the city via Changuchon, the provincial capital.

The office asked those who bought the imported squid from a local store selling frozen seafood between August 24 and 31 and took it to inform the neighborhood authorities and seek a test for "Covid-19".

The Changchun City Office for Protection against "Covid-19" said that squid was imported from Russia through a company in Hanchun and brought to the provincial capital.

On Friday, the Chinese Customs Administration said that it will stop import operations from companies for a week if it is proven that Corona virus has been detected in frozen food products, and it will also be stopped for a month if the virus is detected in the products of an import company for three times or more.

The Chinese mainland recently recorded very few cases of the virus, which first appeared late last year in the Chinese province of Wuhan, where only ten new cases of the virus were recorded yesterday, Saturday.

The authorities say most of the newly detected cases come from travelers who arrived in China from other countries.

And in August, local authorities in two Chinese cities said they had found traces of the virus in shipments of imported frozen food.

The World Health Organization said at the time that it had not detected any evidence of the spread of "Covid-19" disease through food or packages.
