It was on February 21 this year that the bathhouse in Pajala was closed again.

The reason was that suspicious movements were discovered in the building's construction.

In the beginning, it was suspected that it was about the large amount of snow, but the municipality has rejected that explanation.

- It was not about the amount of snow and it was not about the constructions in the building, they looked whole and good.

But it is the moisture that has pushed out through the walls, says Magnus Pekkari, CEO of Pajalabostäder AB.

Torn away broken bricks

The problems thus arose when the moisture reached the cold air and thus created frost bursts.

This caused bricks and concrete to break, making it look like the wall was rising.

- Now we have torn away the broken and replaced it with new material.

We have also screwed up plates and made other solutions to make it last better.

Politicians want to see a new bathhouse

But despite the repairs and a new opening, the fact remains that the bathhouse is around 50 years old.

- The bathhouse is in very poor condition.

It can crash any day, says Magnus Pekkari, CEO of Pajalabostäder AB.

What Magnus Pekkari is referring to is, for example, that the pump, filter or other concrete parts can break.

The ruling politicians in Pajala have previously stated that they want a new bathhouse to be built in the central town.

In May, the decision was made by the municipal board's working committee that a working group should be formed to work out a proposal on how a new bathhouse should be financed, among other things.
